HMS Victory Gets High Marks In Quality

This plank on bulkhead model started as a kit, but the final result is an estimated 85% scratch built and has been a crowd favorite whenever it has been shown.

This project won the builder Quality Model Drydock's coveted Drydock Platinum Ribbon for the high degree of quality and detail excellence.

The black planks are cut from ebony and the yellow is boxwood. Maple planks were used for the decks and walnut was used for much of the deck furniture. Tops were made of ebony, the yards were painted black.

The Anatomy of a Ship series book for the Victory was used extensively for adding details. This model took 1,150 hours and 48 minutes to build. The scale is 1/90.

The model is 40.5 inches in length, has a height of 31,75 inches and is 16 inches across at its widest point.

This model has won 11 awards in 4 contests in 2007. It has been to contests in San Antonio, Houston, Austin and Dallas. In each contest it took first in its division. It won Best Ship in San Antonio, Houston and Austin. It won Best Interior in Austin. It won Best of Show in Houston and Austin. It won Best Theme - Gone Hollywood in San Antonio. This model has also been display in the Artwalk in McAllen, Texas on two occasions.
